Corporate Sustainability at Oriel House Hotel
At Oriel House Hotel, sustainability is at the core of our business values. We prioritise waste segregation throughout our operations, ensuring that recyclable materials are properly sorted and disposed of. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our infrastructure, with the installation of EV charging points and LED-powered candles for candelabras for our events, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Our menu options are designed to reduce waste, offering set menus that prioritise efficiency and sustainability. We also have Positive Carbon waste technology recently installed, It's designed to identify where food is being wasted so you can make better purchasing decisions and reduce your environmental impact.
Additionally, we utilise faux floral arrangements for wedding decorations, eliminating the need for fresh flowers and reducing water usage. Inspired by the success of solar panel installations at our sister property, Talbot Clonmel, we are exploring the implementation of solar panels to further reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources in the coming year. Leftover food from wedding events is repurposed for staff meals, minimising food waste and supporting our local community. Furthermore, we have transitioned from paper-based administrative files to electronic systems and folders, reducing paper usage and promoting digital sustainability practices, through software like adobe, Kefron and DocuSign to name but a few.
As part of Ballincollig Business Association in conjunction with Ballincollig Tidy Towns, we are delighted to have launches the Ballincollig Eco-Friendly Cup Campaign- to swap single-use cups in-store and instead implement the 2GoCup Deposit and Return scheme as their option for takeaway drinks. At Oriel House Hotel, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s a commitment we uphold in every aspect of our hospitality venue operations.
